County Championships 2025

Team Kennet saw around 40 athletes compete in the County Track and Field Championships over the weekend in several areas.

A total of 12 gold, 9 Silver and 9 bronze medals were won in total.

Day 1 in the Berkshire Champs, which is being held at Bracknell saw 5 Gold Medals won, Theo Nightingale in the under 17 mens High Jump secured another county title with 1.75m clearance, while in the Throws Turkay Altuntas threw 41.77 just short of the clubs record  to win Gold in the Discus, Younger Brother Berkay didn’t want to lose out by winning Gold in the under 15 age group throwing 32.84, back with older brother Turkay he took his second Gold in the Shot with a throw of 12.28, again in the throws this time under 13 girls Matilda Clare threw a huge 23.19 to take her first county title, it was a clean sweep in this competition as Isla Ladds was 2nd 18.91 and Ella McDonald taking the Bronze 18.69 all threw new bests distances.

Oscar Hook was rewarded with a Bronze in the Shot in the u15 Boys 10.17 and in the same age group Rueben Kuijten also struck Bronze in the Discus 29.49.

Zoe Dickson just missed out in the under 17  women Hammer taking 4th place 22.94, Isla Ladds came 6th in the final of the u13 girls 75m, in the 100m under 15 girls Emerald Hill Sawyer came 3rd in heat 2 14.01 and Izzy Payne 5th in heat 2 14.36, Josh Ladds was 7th in the Long Jump in u15 boys 3.46. also in the under 15 age group 300m for the girls Hill Sawyer was 5th in the final 45.89, in the u15 Boys 200m Martais Manrique Hueglas was 4th in the final 25.90, else where in the u13 age group Penelope Lyth was 6th in the 1000m 3.38.23, Oscar Hook 5th and Josh Ladds 7th in the under 15 boys Discus and Alfie Cronk in the under 13 Boys came 4th in the Shot 6.89 and 6th in the Discus 12.21

At the Hampshire  Championships Olivia Bentley came through from the heat taking 3rd place in the 800m 2.32.8 for day 2s final which is being held at Portsmouth.

Day 2 saw biggest turnout of club athletes, at The Hampshire Championships in the under 15 Girls Harriet Saunders secured a outstanding Silver medal in the 1500m clocking 4.47.58, and after yesterdays 800m heat Olivia Bentley also struck a Silver wit ha fast 2.27.29 both girls gaining best times, this was also achieved in the under 13 girls 1500m with Elodie Burdett who came 6th with 5.39.35.

So Gold Medal winners came from Emerald Hill Sawyer in the u15  Long Jump as she lept a huge 4.87 smashing her best, Oscar Hook won the under 15 boys  Hammer with a throw of 33.08.

Isla Ladds in the under 13 Girls High Jump cleared 1.25 to take Gold, and Matilda Clare struck gold on day 2 in the Long Jump as she lept 4.48, Isla Ladds won another gold medal in the Discus 17.92 and one of the best Gold came from Luke Angell in the Senior Mens age group keeping his unbeaten run going of nearly 15 years. In the under 13 Boys Javelin Jenson Nichols was crowned county champion with a throw of 29.45.

There were some more great Silver Medals won from Sophia Mahoney in the u13 girls Discus 12.71, Noah Lauder Clarke in the u15 boys Javelin and Josh Ladds in the u15 boys Hammer.

Bronze Medals came from Zoe Dickson in the under age group in the Shot 7.76 and Discus 22.98,

In the under 17 Javelin Haydn James earned a silver with a throw of 43.96 and a Bronze went to Will McDonald 38.94

Other performances on day 2 under 15 girls Long Jump Izzy Payne 4.60 for 4th place and Ella Cronk 6th 4.33, the under 15 boys Matias Manrique Hueglas 6th in the 100m final 13.17, Josh Ladds 6th in Heat 2 14.57, Ella Cronk came 9th in the 800m final 2.52.25, Emerald Hill Sawyer was 5th in her heat of the 200m 28.66 and in the boys 1500m Harry Smith was placed 5th wit ha time of 4.48.0 in the under 13 age groups Long Jump Isla Ladds was 4th with 4.30 and Ella McDonald 5th, in the 600m races Ella Larkin had to settle for 4th place 1.46.94 and Penelope Lyth 11th 1.59.68, and in the girls 75m Matilda Clare heat 1 5th 21.6, Sophia Mahoney heat 2 23.89, and Heat 3 Ella Larkin 21.97 3rd and Penelope Lyth 4th 22.93, none made the final. Josh Bailey was 10th in the boys 1000m 3.42.2. Euan Jones came 5th 26.10 and Josh Ladds 6th 25.13 in the under boys Javelin.

The Somerset County Championships faired well for under 20 Athlete Zoe Allen, she won a Silver in the u20 Womens Javelin 32.91 and claimed bronze medals in both the 200m 29.22 and 400m 67.11.
