Join Team Kennet

We are a friendly, community-focused athletics and triathlon club helping children, young athletes and adults enjoy sport, improve with confidence and feel part of something positive from the very beginning.

Step 1

Tell us about you

Contact us to let us know the athlete’s age, interests and any previous athletics or triathlon experience.

Step 2

Find the right group

We’ll help point you towards the most suitable training group based on age, stage and availability.

Step 3

Attend trial sessions

Where appropriate, athletes may be invited to try sessions so they can experience the club before joining.

Step 4

Complete membership

Once offered a place, families can complete the required forms and become part of Team Kennet.

Who can join?

Team Kennet welcomes a wide range of athletes, from children taking their first steps into athletics through to experienced juniors, seniors, masters athletes and triathletes. We want the club to feel accessible, supportive and enjoyable, whatever stage you are at.

Some groups are in particularly high demand at certain times of year, so places may not always be immediately available. Where that happens, we aim to be clear about next steps and waiting list options.

Why join Team Kennet?

  • Friendly and encouraging club environment.
  • Training opportunities across athletics and triathlon.
  • Experienced volunteer coaches and helpers.
  • Clear pathways for children, juniors and adults.
  • Opportunities to train, compete and grow in confidence.

How joining works

We aim to make the joining process straightforward for parents, athletes and new members. The exact process may vary slightly depending on age group, discipline and space.

01

Make an enquiry

Use the contact form or membership enquiry route to tell us who is interested in joining.

02

We review availability

We check the most suitable group, coach availability and whether there is current space.

03

Trial or waiting list

If space is available, we may invite the athlete in. If not, we explain the waiting list clearly.

04

Confirm membership

Once a place is confirmed, forms, medical information and membership details can be completed.

What to expect as a new member

New members should expect a welcoming, community-led club atmosphere. Training is structured, supportive and designed to help athletes build confidence over time. We want children and adults alike to enjoy the process, not just the results.

Parents should also feel informed and reassured. That means clearer communication, realistic expectations around availability and a sensible pathway into club life.

Frequently asked questions

Can anyone join straight away?

Not always. Some age groups or training groups may have limited capacity, so there can be a waiting list depending on demand and available coaching support.

Do I need previous experience?

No. Many members join with little or no previous athletics or triathlon experience. We want the club to feel welcoming to beginners as well as more experienced athletes.

Is there a trial session?

This can depend on the group and availability, but where appropriate we may invite athletes to attend sessions before completing membership.

What happens after I enquire?

We review the enquiry, check the right pathway and let you know whether there is space available, whether a trial is possible or whether a waiting list is in place.

Helpful information before you join

Giving families the right information early helps make the joining process much easier.

Training groups

Sessions may vary depending on age, discipline and time of year, so it helps to check the most suitable option first.

Membership forms

Once a place is offered, we may need membership details, emergency contacts and relevant medical information.
