Basingstoke Junior Cross Country League Match 2

Team Kennet were in action in the second round of the Destination Basingstoke Junior Cross Country League held at Rushmoor in Aldershot over a muddy course in woodland on a damp winters day but mild for the Athletes.

The under 9 Girls were first off and they produced another winning team performance, not quite like last match but took the first three places, Maisie McCurtin won her first ever cross country by over 11 seconds from the Stratford Twins, Alice coming home in 2nd place and Orlagh taking third place, Matilda Saunders was 5th place making up the A team, The B team were second on the day, Elodie Burdett leading them in with 7th, Evie Kearney 8th, Megan Jones 9th and Sophia Barnett 13th, Jasmine Hemmings also took part coming 17th.

This win for the girls almost secures now a league overall win to retain their own title.

The under 9 boys did well too, they finished 2nd team on the day to keep them in contention of league title, Joshua Kuijten was clubs first runner home in 5th place, followed by Gethin Thomas 10th then Seb Lauder-Clarke 16th and Jacob Williams 23rd. other runners were Max Burt 24th, Alex Cameron 27th.

The under 11 Girls came 3rd team on the day, Quinn Joyce had a battle to get in to the top 3, but had to settle for 4th place by just one second, with Harriet Saunders 6th, Penelope Lyth 9th and Matilda Clare 11th  only 4 points separated top 3 teams. Penelope Gorbold was 30th, Rose Bell 33rd and Ella McDonald 37th other club runners.

The under 11 Boys also had to settle for 3rd place, Harry Smith just got the better of Euan Jones for 10th and 11th places, Luke Stiles was 13th and William Devall 14th for a good packing team, Elliot Bell led the B team home in 15th, Henry Bell 17th, Ben Doherty 28th and Samuel Atkins 38th , the C team was led by Josh Bailey 39th, Lestyn Thomas 45th and Alfie Cronk 50th.

The under 13 Girls managed to claim 2nd place team this match, Amber Stiles was first home for the club in 6th place followed closely by Charlotte Bailey 7th, Emerald Hill-Sawyer was 13th and Chloe O’Reardon 15th, other runners were Iris Bloomfield 16th, Ella Cronk 17th, Lola Mitcham 18th and Mia Kearney 19th for the B team.

The under 13 Boys were placed 4th team led by Aaron Carter 13th, Ben Daley 15th, Noah luader-Clarke 19th and Marlowe Barber 21st, Frank Edward led the B team in 26th, Harry Barnett 29th and Reuben Kuijten 35th.

Alanna Smith came home as 2nd under 17 women and in the under 15 boys Ethan Kuijten was placed 6th.

Oxford Cross Country

Team Kennet had a fairly good turnout at the First Oxford Cross Country League held at Newbury Showground on Sunday.

The Under Mens and Womens race is combined, Isaac Mitcham was 23rd and Olivia Smith 15th in their categories.

The Senior Womens race Sue Francis came 34th and Katie Reynolds 105th

The Senior Mens David Hamill was clubs first runner home in 90th followed by Andy Colling in 120th, next home was Stephen Field 205th then Mitch Poustie 230th, Simon Hockaday 269th and Simon Gale 282nd.

Oxon Cross Country League for 2022/23

We are entering Senior men/ladies, U20 and under 17 runners

The main change this year is the introduction of athlete fees payable by each runner

To keep the league running and to reflect the increasing cost of venues, there is a fee of £20 per athlete for the season, £15 for under 17. Descending by £4 or £3 per match when you register. There will be no car parking fees at the venue

Team Kennet Junior Cross Country

Team Kennet Juniors came out in force in their first Basingstoke Destination League match of the season that saw a record number of 60 Youngsters turn out.

The Round 1 match was held in Basingstoke over an undulated and twisting course with a few inclines thrown in. The conditions were brilliant for the course, the first race the Under 9 Girls saw 10 TK girls line up, and it was a successful race for them, as Team Kennet took the first 7 places and taking the top 3 team places overall.

In the race Orlagh Stratford led from the gun to then be joined by race winner Ella Larkin in the final 200m, Orlagh had to settle for second place, Maisie McCurtin took third place with a strong finish.

The Girls packed in well with Alice Stratford 4th, Matilda Saunders 5th, Evie Kearney 6th and Elodie Burdett 7th further down the field Sophie Barnett was 13th, Eveleyn Barker 14th and Jasmine Hemmings 18th.

The under 9 Boys team came 3rd overall with B team 7th, in a big field of over 30.

Gethin Thomas led the way in 6th place with Joshua Kuijten 7th, Seb Lauder-Clarke 17th and making up the A team was Xander Cameron 21st.

The B team was led home by Jacob Williams 22nd, Max Burt 25th

The under 11 Girls finished 3rd and 7th in the team scores, Harriet Saunders led the TK Vests home in 5th place with a strong finish, Ella McDonald was next home in 9th followed by Quinn Joyce 12th and Matilda Clare 14th, the B team was led by Penelope Lyth in 17th, Elora Murray 37th, Penelope Gorbold 39th and Rose Bell 44th in a field of over 50 runners.

The under 11 boys had the biggest field of the day with over 60 runners, Team Kennet A team finished 2nd place behind a strong Aldershot squad, The Yellow vest packed well with Oscar Larkin first home for the club in 6th place, then Ben Doherty 8th, Harry Smith 10th and Euan Jones 11th, the B team came 5th overall with Malik Gaye leading them home in 12th place, Luke Stiles 18th, William Devall 24th and Ronny Bowsher 27th. The C Team came 10th overall Henry Bell 29th, Samuel Atkins 30th, Rudy Bowsher 32nd and Josh Bailey 43rd. it was a great turnout from the club in this age group with Lestyn Thomas 49th and Alfie Cronk 57th making up the rest of the club athletes.

The under 13 Girls also had a strong turnout, a battle close to the front from Amber Stiles 4th and Charlotte Bailey 5th helped the A Team finish 2nd place behind the hosts, Emerald Hill-Sawyer was 13th and Anna Hall 15th.

The B team was led by Chloe O’Reardon 19th Amelie Disley 21st, Lola Mitcham 26th and Ella Cronk 27th, and Mia Kearney 28th. For the B team to finish 6th

The under 13 Boys A team came 3rd, Aaron Carter was clubs first runner home in 10th, Ben Daley  14th, Noah Lauder-Clarke 17th and Frank Edwards 20th making up the team, the B team were 7th led by Harry Barnett 21st, Charlie Adams 22nd, Marlowe Barber 23rd and Reuben Kuijten 29th, other runners were Flynn Murray 30th

The under 15/17 Girls combined race saw Alanna Smith finish 7th overall and Camille Farrington 12th

The under 15/17 boys combined race Ethan Kuijten was 9th and Max Adams 10th

Both teams coming 4th place
