Team Kennet were in action in their first League match of the season, The Oxford young Athletes Track and Field League, which the club use for its Development, The match was held at Horspath Athletics Stadium in Oxford on glorious spring day.
The Clubs under 16 Boys are going to be very strong this year after last years league matches, they came out in force to secure a superb age group win on the day.
Josh Brian secured a great win in the long jump with a massive personal best of 5.28 and Aaron Titlow finished 2nd B string.
Berkay Altuntas secured two wins in the discus 41.87 and Shot 12.90 in the A strings, Oscar Hook won the Discus B string 27.92 and Rueben Kuijten non scoring threw 32.21, Oscar made it another B win in the Shot 10.71. The Javelin saw a huge throw from Noah Lauder-Clarke 45.76 and with Euan Jones 30.32 secured another double win.
Josh Brian secured third place in the high Jump 1.40 and on the Track Oliver young came 3rd in both the 100m 12.15 and 200m25.11, in the B string 100m Titlow was 4th 12.78 and in the 200m b string Brian was 2nd 26.49, Lauder-Clarke tackled the 300m coming 4th with 43.20. and the Relay quartet had to settle for 3rd place 50.80.
The under 14 Girls narrowly missed out on a team win by just 1 ½ points, there were some outstanding performances, in the 800m Ella Larkin ran 2.24.13 winning this by 40m and Affra Bailey 2.38.51 came home 2nd in the B string. Quinn joyce timed her 1500m to perfection as she kicked from 300m to win in 5.0276, and making it a double win from Maisie McCurtin 5.11.78, the 100m saw two 2nd places from Matilda Clare 13.73 and Larkin 14.08 in the longer 200m Joyce was 4th 29.44 and Sophia Mahoney 6th 32.21. Ella Parsons was 4th in the 75m hurdles 17.3.
Moving to the field events, the long jump saw a close competition, Clare having to settle for 2nd place by 2cm with 4.46 and Isla Ladds leaping 4.43 for a B string win, Quinn and McCurtin both cleared 1.25 in the high jump for 3rd and 1st places.
The Throws picked up good points as Ladds won her discus 23.70 and 2nd in the Shot 7.20, Mohoney was 3rd in the B string Discus and Affra Bailey winning the B string Shot 5.73, Clare in her third event of the day secured 2nd in the Javelin and finally the 4 x 100m relay team took a convincing win from Clare, Mahoney, Larkin and Ladds in 56.75
Elsewhere in the under 16 Girls Olivia Bentley won her 800m in 2.26 and earlier came 2nd in her 300m 44.84, Newcomer Catherine Wood started well in her debut with a win in the Javelin and 2nd places in the discus 20.29 and Shot 8.45
The under 18 Girls Zoe Dickson took two 2nd places in the Discus 23.54 and Shot 7.42 and Suki Humphrey winning her B string Discus 20.71 and Shot 6.08
The under 18 men saw a new personal best in the high jump from Theo Nightingale winning with 1.88 and also coming 2nd in the Long Jump 5.51, and Newcomer Chris Broadfoot came 2nd in his Javelin 39.51
The under 14 Boys saw only two boys Alfie Cronk threw well in his Discus winning with 16.23 and taking third in his shot 7.36 and Seb Lane taking 2nd place in his long Jump 4.06 and two 3rd places in his 100m 13.33 and 200m 28.0
Also in action were the Quadkids and they produced a dominant performance to finish 1st overall. The headline performance came from Harvey Baker, who broke the club’s all-time points record with an outstanding 274 points—surpassing a mark that had stood since 2014. Crucially, his score would still have broken the record under the previous age group system. Praiya Foreman was equally impressive, breaking her own club record with 267 points to finish as the top U12 girl .
In the U10 competition, Rory Ridler led the way with an incredible all-round performance, scoring 242 points to top the standings, while Isabella Harte also delivered a strong contribution for the team .
This season sees new age groups introduced, with U12 (Years 5–6) and U10 (Years 3–4), replacing the previous structure. Team Kennet adapted seamlessly, recording multiple personal bests across all events.
The vortex throwing across the squad stood out in particular—arguably the most technically consistent display in five years—matched by outstanding team spirit throughout the day.
A powerful start to the season, with Team Kennet setting the standard early.
