Team Kennet took part in their third Wessex Young Athletes League match of the Season at Basingstoke against the top two teams and the club lying in 8th place the match would be tough. There were again some outstanding performances in scorching temperatures over 30 degrees.

On the day the Under 15 Girls kept up their chances of winning their own age group coming 2nd, A double win came in the High Jump Chloe O’Riordan winning her first ever event clearing the bar on her last jump that saw all athletes jump the same height, Charlotte Bailey won the B string on Count back. The Shot saw Evie Lewis throw 7.38 for 3rd place and welcome return from Suki Humphreys after shoulder operation won her B string 6.41, The other throws saw good 2nd places Lewis in her favourite event Discus 22.62 and Zoe Dickson B string 14.03 and Javelin Dickson matched her Discus throw of 14.03 and Lewis throwing just over 10m. Sophie Moores also came 2nd in her Long Jump A string producing a personnel best leap of 4.35 with Bailey 3rd B with 3.49, on the track Bailey came 4th in the 1500m 5.29, in the sprints it was 4th places in the 100m Moores 14.2 and Ava Brade 14.5, the 200m Moores 29.8 and Grace Shopland 32.5 and the longer 300m O’Riordan 49.4 and Shopland straight after her 800m 57.7, where she came 3rd B string in this, and Riordan 4th A in the 800m.
The Relay team of Melissa Kalliwani, Moores, O’Riordan and Shopland came 2nd in 57.3.
The under 13 girls also came 2nd place moving them up their own age group league Emerald Hill Sawyer had yet another busy day in the 100m clocking 15.1 for 3rd place which she matched same position in the 200m 29.6 and later on she was involved in a Double win in the 800m clocking 2.41 with Ella Cronk 2.51 winning the B string. Cronk made it a hatrick of wins she won her A string High Jump 1.25 and won the B string Long Jump 3.51, Daisy downer now finding her feet in the sport came 3rd A string in the Long Jump with 3.66 she came 2nd in the Shot 5.96 and won her B string Javelin 14.35. Anna Hall came 2nd in the Javelin 18.86, 3rd in the Discus 13.36 which hshe matched in the B string Shot 5.29, Harriet Saunders braved the 1500m to come home in 3rd place 5.54.4 and helped with the points in the 100 and 200m.
The 4 x 100m relay team came home in 2nd place 62.1.
Clare McGonnell helped the under 17s by winning her Javelin 32.32 and on the track won her 300m 44.7.
The under 13 Boys came 3rd in their match, they put in a solid all round performance, Noah Lauder-Clarke winning his Javelin wit ha throw of 31.95, Ben Daley threw 25.06 to take 2nd in the B string, Rueben Kuijten threw a long 21.34 in the Discus and had to settle for 2nd place, Ben Daley went one better in the B string winning this with 14.02, two third places in the Shot came from Kuijten 6.11 and Frank Edwards 4.06, Josh Brian came 2nd in his long Jump 3.85. in the Sprints Josh Ladds won his B string in 15.6, the long 1500m race saw both boys come 4th in their strings in a tough race Euan Jones 5.38 and Edwards 5.55, The 4 x 100m Relay team came home in 2nd place in a great relay race 61.1.
The under 15 Boys James Simmons doubled up in the sprints coming 3rd in the 100m 13.3 and 2nd in the 200m 26.1 and he also came 2nd in the Long Jump with 4.88, and Will McDonald 3rd B string 3.62, Turkay Altuntas came 2nd in the Discus 30.70 which was matched by McDonald 14.59 and later he threw the Javelin for another 2nd place with 31.73 throw.
James Fenner won his Under 17 Javelin in 42.53 later found the 400m tough but broke the 60 sec barrier clocking 59.2 to take 3rd place.
