Xmas Theme Night

Team Kennet last Wednesday Night before Christmas Theme night was another success, over 60 young Juniors did the Christmas Session in the Sportshall, with tasks all night to earn prizes, The Best Customs went to Imogen Cowell and Luke Styles with runners up Isla Ladds and Joshua Ladds and third places to Izzy Carrol and Flynn Murray.

The guess the numbers game, the first number 51 was guessed in less than a minute by Anna Hall, next number was 20 which was won by Luke Styles and finally last number 88 was Ethan Knight.

The Challenge games was to hit the targets set his in Vertical Jump which was 45, Speed Bounce 66 in 20 seconds, Stretch n Reach 35 and to achieve 2 Horse Shoes on the target from 3 tries., 12 prizes were up for grabs these went to Tyler Vines, Louise Colby, Jonathan Chism, Nicole Brooks, Kaan Tugcetin, Aiden Fleming, Zac Humphreys, Harry Fenner, Harry Barnes, Bethany MaClean, Ben Daley and Luke Styles taking his third prize of the night.

Finally it was the Santa run, 5 lines of relay teams set up to run down and get a few sweets at a time, they were joined by the older group from the gym.

All the prize winners came out to be given a envelope each, 3 had cash prizes, they were given a chance to trade for a brown envelope which had £20, one lucky person did swap and won the £20. All the winners had to open the envelopes at the same time.

Andover Triathlon

Team Kennet had a big turnout at Andover Triathlon on 21/07/19, with podium positions for seven athletes ranging from the Junior TriStars 1 category all the way up to the “vintage” age group.

Ten Team Kennet triathletes competed in the adult race which comprised a 440m Swim, 30km Bike, and 8.3km Run. The fastest Team Kennet triathlete was Bart Kuijten, competing the race in 1:31:47, making him the 3^rd fastest in the 40-49 “Vet” age group and 7^th overall in a very competitive field. Chris Hall was not far behind, in 1:36:18. Martin Colston (note – also currently the leader of Newbury Town Council!) finished in 1:44:00 which put him on the podium in 2^nd place in the 50-59 “super-Vet” age group. Phil Cowhig came 3^rd in the same age group in 1:47:26. Finishing a little later was Ron Stephenson in 1:57:59, which gained him 2^nd place in the “vintage” age group (aged 60 and above).

For the juniors, in the TriStars1 race Anna Hall was 2^nd placed girl and Ethan Kuijten was 3^rd placed boy. In the TriStars2 race Emma Davies was 2^nd placed girl.

SAL Match 4

Team Kennet faired well in the fourth match of the Southern Athletics LeagueDiv 3 SW match held at Basingstoke, despite having only a small squad the club came 5th out of 6 teams in a extremely close match.

Hayley Steward was the best club athlete on the day she won the long jump 5.32 and triple jump 10.28 outright with personnel bests on both, she had to settle for 2nd place in the shot 10.68 and 4th in the Discus 19.20, her favorite event the 400m she earned herself another personnel best coming 3rd 60.8.
Wins were few and far but another came from Anna Montagne in the womens High jump she came in as everyone went out to win with 1.55, Georgina Thomson came 2nd on countback 1.28 in the B string.
On the Track Bethan Philp secured a 2nd A string in the 1500m steeplechase 5.55 and G. Thomson took a B string win 6.17, Thomson kept her busy day by securing another 2nd in the A string 400m hurdles 79.2, her twin sister Rebecca earned herself 2nd place in the B string 800m 2.33.8 and the 1500m 5.44.
Caitlin Nowell added a third in the B string 400m 66.5 in the sprints Faye Saunderson came 5th in the 100m 13.4 and 3rd B string in the 200m 26.7, Amy Russell came 4th in the B 100m 13.5 and Montagne 4th A in the 200m 27.4, earlier she came 2nd in the A string Javelin.
Oliver Bazin was the mens best athlete he came 2nd in the A string Long Jump 5.97 and 3rd in the Triple Jump 11.83, other top 3 performances came from Nick Bull in the B string High Jump 1.38 and Dan Collis B string Triple Jump, Collis came 5th in the 3k steeplechase 11.22.8 and Mitch Poustie taking 3rd B string.

Oxford Cross Country League

Team Kennet’s cross country section were in action on the first weekend of the new year at Horspath in Oxford in the third round of the Oxford Cross Country League, Kirsten Fraser took the best result for the club in the under 13 girls that almost now secures her for a top 3 finish overall, her result also kept the girls in 3rd place in the team standings, Alanna Smith made a welcome return after a serious ankle injury in 19th, with Eve Brown just behind 20th and Maddi Baker 23rd

Nathan Gillis made a rare outing for the club in the Senior mens race, running an excerlent race to come home in 4th place, Bart kuijten was next home in 86th next best scorer.

Oliver Tozer continued his great season to also finish in 3rd place in the under 11 boys putting him 3rd overall in the standings, Ivan Chekmazov came 9th, while in the under 11 girls Zoe Allen pipped on the line for 4th place keeping her 3rd overall in the standings, with Imogen Newby next home in 9th.

Noah Kemp got the better of team mate Toby Clark for the first time this season, finishing 6 and 8th, with Kian Darcy-Masters coming 32nd kept the under 13 boys in 3rd place in the team standings.

in the younger under 9 section Amber Stiles finished 5th, Anna Hall 6th and Loiuse Colby 8th in the girls while Harry Strutt was 9th in the boys

Rebecca Thomson came 7th in the under 15 girls race with Annelise Gale 9th and Emily Tucker 19th.

Luke wild came in 27th in the under 15 boys race.

Xmas Fun Night

Team Kennet’s Christmas night brought a lot of Christmas Colour and themes from around the world, just over 60 juniors turned up from 7 to 14.

On the night best Female went to Scarlett Mizan with Anna Hall runner up and Chloe Yorston third, in the Males Ethan Kuijten won with William Appleby runner up and James Fenner third.

Guess the Number went to Anna Hall, with Oliver Lloyd taking the second number and trading his prize for the Envelope which when he opened surprised him with £15, and Zoe Allen took 3^rd in the Number challenge

Oxford League Match 3

Team Kennet ended their campaign in the oxford Track and field League with a third place behind hosts Oxford City and Radley, but in front of Banbury, Abingdon, Bicester, Witney and White Horse.

Anna Montagne in the under 17 Women’s High Jump broke the club record as she won with a height of 1.57, she also won the Javelin b string 22.46 which was won by her team mate Pheobe Hoaen with a throw of 39.38, Hoaen had to settle for 4th in the Discus 20.83 and Ellie Armstrong won the B string 18.76, Armstrong later went on to win the Shot 9.47, Montagne ended her day on the Long Jump coming 2nd with a leap of 4.69

The under 15 Girls Sophie Wheadon had a superb day winning her Javelin wit ha throw of 28.64, she won her favoured Discus event 29.37, but had to settle for 2nd in the Shot 8.63, in the same event but B string Amy Russell came 2nd 5.46 and in the Discus B string Annelise Gale came 2nd 15.55, in the Long Jump Annabel Gibson came 3rd with 4.29 and Amy Russell came 2nd in the B string 3.77
The relay quartet of Ellie Kerslake, Izzy kerslake, Amy Russell and Ella Ward came 3rd.
On the track, 100m Izzy kerslake came 4th 13.9 and twin sister Ellie taking 2nd 14.1, the longer 200m sprint Ella Ward came7th and Annabel Gibson 5th B string.

The under 13 Girls best scoring event on the track came in the 1500m Eve Brown coming 4th 5.52.9 and Alanna Smith winning the B string 5.56.0, Aimee Dickson came 4th in the 75m hurdles 13.1, she also came 5th in the 100m 14.8 , new comer lily Apps came 7th in the 200m 33.1 and 4th b string in the 100m 15.4, The Field events best points came from the Javelin Eve Brown coming 3rd with a throw of 21.43 and Alanna Smith taking 2nd B string.

The under 15 boys took full control as always in the throws, Oliver Gregory won his A string Shot 12.21 and discus 32.97, Oliver Ford backing him up in the B string won both his throws the Shot 8.83 and Discus 25.36, Ben East won his Javelin breaking the League record throwing 64.33 and Ford made it a hattrick of B wins 29.92, on the track Ethan Haines just missed the sub 40 second barrier by .4 to win the 300m, an hour later was just edged out in the 200m taking 2nd 24.8 and new comer Jonah Briggs taking 5th B 30.00
The 100m Oliver Gregory won the B string 12.7 and Briggs took 6th in the A string.

The under 17 men saw a double win in the Long jump with Oliver Bazin leaping 5.64 and Jack Cannons 4.53, in the sprints 100m Bazin came 4th 12.9 and Cannons 2nd B string 12.6, the 200m Bazin came 5th 26.1 and Tom Hills 25.7 for 2nd place in the B string.

The under 13 boys best result of the day came from Tom Wells winning the Discus 18.90 and Noah Kemp taking 2nd B string 13.66, Wells then went on to come 3td in the Javelin 18.96 and Seb Simpson taking 2nd in the B string.

SAL Match 5

Team Kennet produced one of their best ever team performances in the Southern Athletics League Division 3SW match held at Swindon on Saturday, securing a top 6 finish in the league

A convincing win on the day saw two club records broken and 32 individual wins.

Hayley Steward was again in fine form breaking the clubs Shot Putt record winning in 11.06, and the other club record which was equalled to Anna Montagne in the High Jump which goes back to 2005 winning with a height of 1.56. The B String in the Shot was won by Alisha Bradford 7.46 and in the high Jump B by Anna Pettit 1.40. The Long Jump saw another double win Steward leaping 5.20 and Pettit 4.29, and in the Triple Jump Steward making it another win 10.09 and Georgina Bradford taking the B string. Alisha Bradford won the Discus with a 27.56 throw and Cheryl Angell taking 3^rd B string, while in the Hammer A. Bradford had to settle for 2^nd place 29.78 and a win in the B string by Cheryl Angell. Pheobe Hoaen produced a massive throw in the Javelin of 37.33 to win and produce the fourth best throw with a senior javelin as a u17 in the UK, Montagne won the B string 21.89.

On the Track a superb Double came in the 400m event Montagne clocking 62.1 and Pettit 63.8, just before another Double came in the 800m Kirsty Bennet 2.38.1 and G. Bradford 2.44.5, Kira Angell started the track of on the day in the 400m hurdles coming 2^nd in 79.6.

The Sprint races Steward had to settle for 2^nd places in both 100m 13.4 and 200m 27.5 in the A string while in the B string events wins came from Sunita Sisodiya 100m 13.8 and Kira Angell 200m 28.9. The long

er distance races 1500m Bennet had to settle for 2^nd place 5.40.6 and G. Bradford taking a B string win 5.49.5, while in the 2km Steeplechase a double win came from G. Bradford and Hoaen. The relay teams both won their races firstly in the 4x100m clocking 55.7 and the 4x400m team 4.33.6, the TK girls were unbeaten all season in their category.

The Mens section also clocked up a lot of win, in the High Jump Joe Osler cleared 1.86 to win and Daniel Hockaday cleared 1.50 to take 2^nd B string, Osler teamed up with Josh Willock in both the Long and Triple jumps to score Double wins, in the Long Osler 6.01, Willock 5.89, triple Osler11.74, Willock 11.40, in the Field the club could only secure 4^th places in all four disciplines first time this as ever happened.

On the track Willock secured a double sprint wins, in the 100m clocking 11.7 and 200m 24.0 while two 3^rd places came from Osler in the 100m and Hockaday 200m, the 400m hurdles D. Hockaday came 3^rd A string and Nick Bull won the B string. The 5000m Gavin Mclaughlin came 2^nd A string 19.57 and a Win came in the B string from Mitchell Poustie 22.15. The 800m James Mclaughlin came home in 2^nd place with Gavin Mclaughlin 3^rd, the 1500m j. Mclaughlin could only get 4^th A and a welcome return from Duncan Mcgrory a vet 60 clocking 4.59.2 took 2^nd place but has clocked the 4^th fastest time this year in the UK by vet 60. Both relay teams had to settle for 3^rd places

Debs Putts to Title

Team Kennet’s Deborah Montgomery won the Veterans 50 age group Masters Shot putt Championships over the weekend held at Lee Valley In her first Indoor Championship she threw a massive 10m 40cm to win the event and put her 3rd in the all-time all comers rankings list.
