Barrie Strange Throws Competition

Team Kennet saw several of its throws squad take part in the Barry Strang Throws Competition at Oxford.

Ben East moved up to the under 15 boys age group and set a new club record in the Javelin by throwing 44.62m, last years UK number 1 had to settle for 2nd place first time he has been beaten for several years. elsewhere in the same age group also movin up Harry Booker won both his events Shot 10.70 and Discus 29.53 and Oliver Gregory placed third in the Shot 9.63 and in the Discus reaching 21m
Charlotte Booker threw a new club record in the under 17 Womens Hammer 23.14 and achived 20.55 in the Discus
The under 13 boys age group Kian Hockaday threw 26.32 in the javelin, all athletes on the day threw Personnel Bests

Lee Valley Indoor

AnnaIndoorUnder 15 Anna Pettit competed in the Lee Valley middle distance indoor track and field on Wednesday evening taking part in the 1500m, Aiming to go under the 5 minute barrier for the first time she smashed it by clocking 4.56.04 which is a new club indoor record and puts Anna 8th in the UK rankings but in England number 1

800m Indoor

Team Kennet’s Alex Hanson, currently studying at Central Arkansas University won the 800m at the Emory Crossplex Invitational Meet in Birmingham, Alabama, USA on January 22nd in a time of 1:54:04 helping his University men’s team win  the overall event against teams from across the southern United States.

London Games

16266001_10155731139844606_8013702080228016796_nTeam Kennet had several athletes take part in the London Games over the weekend at Lee Valley, in the under 15 girls 800m Anna Pettit set the fastest time to win her race in 2.24.36 to beat her own club record and still remain unbeaten in any competition over the Winter, Stuart Bladon took part in the under 17 mens 400m clocking 55.54 winning his heat and later leapt 10.58 in the triple jump for 7th place, Zach Montgomery took part in the Shot in the same age group throwing a new best and a new club record of 11.14 coming 4th.

 

SEAA Indoor Championships

u15-anna-pettitTeam Kennet struck gold at the recent South of England Indoor Track and Field Championships at Lee Valley over the weekend, in the under 15 girls Anna Pettit took part in the 1500m, unbeaten over the winter in any event indoors and outdoors she stepped up to run 5.05.3 to take gold and her first major title.

Stuart Bladon took part in the under 17 Mens High Jump to finish 5th with a leap of 1.70

 

 

Lee Valley Indoor Open

A few TK athletes travelled to Lee Valley on New Year’s day for an Indoor Open. Kian Hockaday ran 9.46 over 60m narrowly missing a club record but did manage to beat his brother’s 200m record by running 31.86. Brother Daniel ran 8.13 over 60m in the under 17 boys while Anna Pettit ran 2.26.70 in the Under 15 girls 800m.

Biggleswade Open

Team Kennet Athletes were in action at the Biggleswade Open in Bedfordshire end of September, two athletes stole the whole meeting, Under 13 Ben East threw a massive 50.35m in the Javelin to extend his own club record and personnel best, this throw put him number 2 in the Uk all time rankings and 6m clear of his rival in the 2016 rankings.  His team mate as all season Harry Booker also threw a new club record and best throw in the Discus as he threw 35.27 to go 16th in the All Time Rankings, but coming home later found that another thrower in the country knocked him of UK Number 1 by just centimetres .

Deborah Montgomery also broke her own vet 50 Shot putt record taking it to 9.10.

Kira Angell in the under 15 girls also broke her own club High Jump record clearing 1.51.

ESAA Combined Events

stuartTeam Kennet’s Stuart Bladon took part in the English Schools Combined Pentathlon Championships  in Exeter on Saturday in the Junior Boys, Bringing all the Best u15 Pentathletes from over the UK, Stuart achieved four new personnel bests as he came 11th out of 43.

His  best ever Score of 2675pts, was rewarded from the beginning as he clocked 12.2 in the 80m hurdles to set a best time, full of confidence he then threw the Shot 10.26 first time over the 10m mark,, his Long Jump didn’t go to plan but achieved 5.02, then his best two events he finished 5th best in both firstly the High Jump clearing 1.70 and then breaking his own best 800m time of 2.12.6
