Team Kennets Stuart Bladon almost got in to the medals at Lee Valley in the South of England Combined Events over the weekend, just missing out by 10pts in the Heptahlon in the under 17 age group, but set 5 new club records on the way.

Finishing in 4th place, Bladon clocked a fast 7.60 in the 60m sprint, then set a club record in the long jump with a below par 5.65, he then threw the shot 10.79, and then won the high jump with 1.83 breaking the club record on the way. This moved Bladon up in to 2nd place after day 1, Day 2 started well, 2nd fastest in the 60m hurdles 8.74, then for the first time tackled the pole vault, where he managed 2m 10cm, which was a new club record but moved Bladon down to 4th place, the 1000m was next, beaten on a photo finish clocking an excellent time and new club record of 2.49.99 was only a second away from the medals. His points tally of 4108 also set a new club record.

Oliver Bazin also took part in the under 17s but didn’t score as he pulled out of the 1000 run. His 60m in 7.97 set him up for a good start, moving in to the long jump he leapt 5.26 to push him down to 12th in the field, a 7.16m in the shot followed by 1.47 in the high jump ended day 1 in 14th place. Day 2 saw his sprint hurdle race 11.35 and taking on the pole vault for the first time didn’t get over a height, but gained great experience from the Championship.
