Home International Indoor Pentathlon 10.11.17
Team Kennet athlete Stuart Bladon was part of the England team at the Schools Home International Pentathlon competition held at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on 10th November. Representing the Downs School, Stuart made an excellent start to the competition with 8.61 in the 60m hurdles, a new PB, he then followed this up with another PB of 10.83m in the shot put. Good throws from all the England team athletes ensured that they had a small lead over Scotland after the first 2 events. The next event was the 200m where Stuart clocked 24.53 for yet another PB and he then followed that up with a leap of 5.93 in the long jump, close to his best. Some excellent long jump performances from the team from Scotland meant that they had a narrow lead of 24 points going into the final event the 800m. Despite all the England athletes giving all they had in the 800m they were not able to beat Scotland so finished with silver medals. Stuart ran 2.08.05 for the 800, another PB and the 3rd fastest time overall, so finished in 10th place individually.
