Team Kennet took part in the last match of the season at Banbury in the Oxfordshire League. It was a great performance again winning the match
and winning the League to mark a superb season for the West Berkshire Club
On the day the under 13 Boys narrowly won their age group, on the Field the boys didn’t drop a single point in the throws winning all the strings, best in the javelin with Kian Hockaday throwing 36.79 and Oliver Ford 27.31, in the Discus Oliver Ford threw 25.47 and Oliver Absolom 17.35 and in the Shot Oliver Ford 9.49 and Kian Hockaday 6.21, in the High Jump Matthew Jones 3rd A and George Mackie 2nd both clearing 1.30, Humphrey and Jones both came close to the 4m mark in the Long Jump for good placings. On the Track the going was tough, the 800m brought the best result Kian Hockaday 3rd A string and George Mackie 2nd B string. Jones and Mackie both came 3rd in the 75m hurdles, while in the sprints both the Oliver’s Humphreys and Absolom came 3rd in their strings in the 200m. The relay team had to settle for 3rd place.
The under 15 boys had to settle for 2nd place in their team standings but good solid performances coming from the sprinters Oliver Bazin 3rd in the 100m 12.7 and 4th in the 200m 26.6 while in the B string Tom Hills came 2nd in the 100m 12.9 and won the 200m 26.1. The Relay team of Bazin, Hills, Oliver Gregory and Ed Smith took a great win in 51.7. The Field events secured some wins, the usual pairing of Harry Booker and Oliver Gregory both winning the Discus 33.98 and 28.14, and claiming the Shot events as well, Gregory coming 3rd in the Javelin 25.88. Booker had to settle for 5th place in the high Jump 1.45 and the Long Jump Oliver Bazin took a convincing win 5.41 and Hills taking 3rd B 4.38
The under 17 men came 2nd in their age group Daniel Hockaday sprinting to a 100m victory 12.2 and 2nd in the 200m 24.3. In the field Hockaday came 2nd in the long jump 4.79, while on the throws James Hills winning all his three events Discus 34.20, Javelin 34.10 and Shot.
The under 17 women were beaten for 2nd place by just 1pt, Kira Angell winning the Javelin 28.28 and High Jump 1.45 and had to settle for 2nd in the 80m hurdles 13.3. Rosa Lawrence won her 1500m in 5.30, elsewhere Charlotte booker threw 23.47 to come 2nd in the Discus and in the Shot Booker came 4th and Dominika Humphrey won the B string 6.06
The under 15 girls came 4th in their age group, Lucy Wells won the 1500m in 5.05.6, in the 200m sprints Ellie Kerslake 29.8 and Chloe Collins 29.4 both third and Anias Taank 13.8 3rd and Kerslake 14.1 4th in the 100m. In the field Collins came 2nd in the Shot 7.66 and the relay team came home in third place.
The under 13 girls also came 4th, only A string win came from Lottie Absolom in the Discus 20.23, and Annelise Gale in the B string Shot 4.73, Georgina Pasmore came 5th in the Shot 5.02 and 4th in the Javelin. The high Jump Absolom took 2nd place 1.30 and Emily Tucker 3rd B string. The Track fared better in the 800m Gale came 4th but a good B string run from Tucker 2nd, Beth King came 4th in the 1500m, both Annabel Gibson and Tucker came 4th in the 70m hurdles. In the sprints Gibson took 4th in the 100m and 7th in the 200m A strings
With the younger age groups the under 9 girls winning their Quad kids match and taking their own age group title and under 11 girls taking runners up, the girls section took overall winners, while in the boys they had to settle for overall runners up, but combined took the overall league.
