Team Kennet came within a Whisker of winning their home match at Swindon in the Southern Athletics League Div 3SW match.

Scoring 22 individual wins fell just 1 1/2pts short of league leaders Plymouth’s score

Team Kennet Ladies were impressive on the Field, only dropping one point on the Throws, in the Discus Alisha Bradford winning with 27.77 and Charlotte Booker taking the B string, while in the Hammer Booker made it a win 29.67 and A. Bradford taking the B 25.80. In the Javelin Deborah Montgomery won the event 26.35 with team mate Kira Angell winning the B string 25.78, it was close in the Shot with Montgomery just missing out on a win throwing 9.19 for 2nd place and A. Bradford winning the B string 8.07.

The jumps fared well, Holly Donohoe coming third but a welcome return from Kirsty Bennet won the B string, in the Triple Jump both Girls came 2nd Izzy Hole and Georgina Bradford, and in the High Jump K. Angell won her 2nd event of the day 1.38 with Bennet coming 2nd.

The Sprint Hurdles saw K. Angell make it another Hatrick of wins with 19.6, and in the longer 400m hurdles Bennet came 3rd.

Best track race came in the 1500m steeplechase as Izzy Hole showed maturity and developing to the event well taking a fantastic win in a fast 5.46.3. The  longer race the 5km saw a great effort by Emily Faulkner coming 2nd in 19.59 and Bennet making her 2nd win of the day winning the B string. The 1500m race Faulkner had to settle for third place 5.27.1 and a good strong finish from Rosa Lawrence secured her first win of the day 5.31.2, the 800m both Girls had to settle for 3rd places Lawrence and Georgina Bradford, a fast 400m race saw TK Holly Donohoe finishing only third in 65.5 and Izzy Hole 2nd 67.0, sprints picked up good third places for Donohoe, G. Bradford, Lawrence and Cheryl Angell. The 4x400m relay team came 2nd best of the relays.

In the men’s section a great double win came in the Triple Jump with Peter Saunders leaping 12.60 and Stuart Bladon 11.88. Another double win came in the Long Jump Saunders again 6.33 and Tait Weekes 5.20 and in the high Jump Bladon could only clear 1.73 for third place but Nick Bull took 2nd in the B string. The Throws unlike the women scored low points, but in the Javelin Saunders throwing 34.35 had to settle for fourth place but Steve McLean threw 30.52 for a B string win.

On the track a super fit Sam Randall made a welcome return to the club to win the 400m hurdles and Chris turner taking 3rd B string. The 3000m event James McLaughlin ran a superb race in 9.23.2 but came 4th in a close battle, Ben Schiffer-Harte came 3rd in the B string. Randall made it another B string win in the 400m and Bladon coming 2nd A string both with 53.9.

The sprints faired well for the club Josh Willock winning the 100m in 11.6 and taking 2nd in the 200m 23.4, Tait Weekes coming fourth in the 100m B string and Daniel Hockaday 2nd in the B string 200m 24.5, few points came out of the 800 and 1500m Gavin Mclaughlin and nick Bull both 4th in the 800s and Gavin and son James McLaughlin same in the 1500m.

The 4x100m team of Weekes, Montgomery, Hockaday and Willock came home with a great win 47.8 and the 4x400m team of both McLaughlins, Bladon and Randall came 2nd.
