SAL Match 1

Team Kennet had to travel to Exeter for their first Southern Athletics League match of the season in Division 3 South West. Not best of weekends to choose  but a lighter team than expected recorded some good early season results

Day started well with Joe Osler coming 2nd in the High Jump 1.80 and first time as a senior Stuart Bladon taking a B string win with 1.70, the 400m hurdles started of the Track events a 4th place by Rhea Walter in the A string but Susie Drake came through to win the B string, in the womens Field the hammer Charlotte Booker threw a best of 23.84 for 2nd place and  Cheryl Angell recorded her first win in the B string 18.31, Deborah Montgomery came 2nd in the Discus 23.18 and also taking same spot in the B Javelin 23.60 and it was youngster Kira Angell taking 3rd spot in the A string 26.31, elsewhere K. Angell came 3rd in a high class high jump 1.45 with Drake taking 2nd B string. But best points came from the Womens 2k Steeplechase where Drake came 2nd and Rhea Walter taking a win in the B string. Drake made it another 2nd in the B string 3000m, Rosa Lawrence coming 4th A but later made up in the 1500m B string coming 2nf with Izzy Hole taking 4th A, Rachel Bladon came 2nd in the B string 400m 71.03 and u17 Holly Donohoe had to settle for 4th in the A string and still ran 67.0.

The Mens throws the best result came in the B string Shot as Simon Hockaday took 2nd B, the Jumps Joe Osler was up against very high standard as he came 4th in the long jump 5.62 and3rd in the Triple jump 12.51.

The Mens Steeplechase Bradley Thomas had to settle for 3rd place and Nick Bull taking 2nd B string. The younger club athletes tackled the 400m both coming 3rd Stuart Bladon 55.7 and Daniel Hockaday 58.5, while in the sprints Zach Montgomery came 4th 12.2 and Tait Weekes 2nd B string 12.4, the 200m Zach montgomery 24.9 4th Daniel Hockaday 25.5 3rd b.
