Team Kennet Athletes were in action at Newbury Showground on Sunday in the first round of the Oxford League Cross Country, Molly Jones was the clubs best placed athlete as she took full control in the under 13 girls race to come home with a convincing win. New comer Nancie Eadie just missed out on top 3 as she finished 5th and with Georgina Thomson 7th were just pipped by Oxford for the team standing. Rebecca Thomson was next home in 8th place making sure the Yellow vests packed well up front, a big gap to Annelise Gale in 29th and Emily Tucker 31st brought the second team home in 6th place.
The Senior Womens team came home 4th overall on the day, Helen Preedy led the way in 17th with Sue Francis just behind in 20th and taking the Vet 45 age group and Rachel Bladon 24th 3rd Vet 45.
The under 15 girls matched the team placing with Lucy Wells recovering from a cold coming home in 3rd place, Izzy Hole 10th and Bethan Philp 13th. in the under 17 age group of the girls Rosa Lawrence came home 6th place and Holly Donohoe 8th.
In the Younger age groups Zoe Allen came home 3rd in the u9 girls race with Emma Davies 7th, in the Boys good packing from Jonathon Patronis 7th, Henry Waters 8th and Lucas Mercer 9th. while in the u11 age groups which saw over 20 club athletes take part Tara Hogan 10th, Aimee Dickson 11th and Kirsten Fraser 12th best of the girls and Edd Hall led the boys home in 10th with Toby Clark 13th and Jacob Woods 15th.
Only a small hand full of under 13 boys turned up Max Campbell was 37th with both the Davis twins Harry 41st and Finlay 45th
The under 17 boys race saw Bradley Thomas 9th, rupert Uttley 12th and Will Denton 13th, the club missing their top athletes as they will be running this weekend in UK Cross Country Challenge at Milton Keynes, in the under 15 boys Ryan Cannon 15th and Jack Cannon 20th
The Senior mens race saw over 300 finishers, Chris Hall led the clubs army of runners home in 82nd, Gavin Mclaughlin 90th and Dean Makar 118th best of the clubs athletes
