Team Kennet had an amazing time at the Berkshire Under 13 and Longer distance races held at Bracknell.
The under 13 boys were fired up for records, as they smashed all THREE throws records to show their dominance in the UK. First a 1-2-3 came in the discus Harry Booker throwing 33.63 to claim Gold smashing the old record by over 8 metres, Oliver Gregory took Silver and Alex McLaughlin took the Bronze. Next up was the Shot, this time it was a 1-2, with Booker taking another Record by nearly 2 metres throwing 11.15 and Gregory almost equalled the old record throwing 9.43 for Silver. The Javelin saw Ben East completely smash the County record by 6 metres throwing a new club record as well achieving 44.76m for Gold. Booker holds UK number 1 for Discus and UK Number 2 for Shot, and East holds UK Number 1 for Javelin. All 3 are coached by Cheryl Angell who has more athletes ranked in the top 20 in the UK in different age groups. To finish the evening off Booker, East, Gregory and McLaughlin won the 4x100m Relay for another Gold.
Meanwhile in the girls age group, Isobel Kerslake won Silver in the 75m clocking 10.7 and in the 150m she came 4th in the final with 21.6. Chloe Collins just missed out in the 150m clocking 22.2 and in the 75m 11.4. Another Silver came from Sophie Wheadon in the girls Javelin throwing 21.85 while in the discus she came 4th 21.24 and Shot 7.50 for 5th place. Poppy Bladon came 7th in the Discus 15.85 and Collins 6th in the Shot 6.97. In the 1000m Sophie Cheeseman came 5th in 3.28.4 and Georgina Thomson 6th 3.31.2 .
James McLaughlin struck Gold in the u15 boys 3000m clocking 9.38.6 just missing the County Record and in the Girls 3000m Lucy Wells ran a superb race to take 2nd place for a Silver in 1.11.9. The under 17 women’s 3000m saw Rosa Lawrence take Bronze 12.28.2
