Wessex Match 3

Team Kennet again came so close to winning Match 3 at the Wessex young athletes League at Swindon on Sunday claiming some 37 wins in total to put them 2nd in the Division behind match winners Basingstoke

The under 13 boys won their match, again it was the Field Events that took the main points as they won all the A and B string  throws, in the shot harry booker threw 10.50 and Oliver Gregory 9.24, the Discus Booker threw 30.95 and Oliver Gregory 21.20 and the Javelin Ben East 35m and Kian Hockaday 24.74. East then went out to make it a double win in the high Jump clearing 1.44 and Gabriel Warley 1.4 as the boys were some 10cm ahead of the rest of the field, in the Long Jump Booker cleared 4.32 for 2nd place and Hockaday 3rd B string. The 200m saw a superb win from Gregory in 28.7 with Matthew Jones taking 2nd place in the B string. The 4 x 100m relay team stayed unbeaten by storming to victory in 57.0. Other points came from Ned Atkins in sprint hurdles, Finlay Davis and Josh Donohoe 1500m, Kian Hockaday and Harry Davis 800m.

The under 15 boys made sure they won their match a superb win in the 1500m by new comer Henrik Wendin 4.32.5 and toby Thomas taking 2nd B string,  Jack Cannons won the 800m 2.21.6 with Oliver Bazin taking 3rd b string. Daniel Hockaday had a busy day finishing 2nd in the 300m 39.9 and 3rd A in the 200m 25.6 with Zach Montgomery 2nd B string 26.5, Hockaday came 2nd in the sprint hurdles 14.0. It was the field yet again that took most the points in the Discus Montgomery winning with 28.09, the Shot 11.83 setting a new club record, Jack Cannons took 3rd in the Javelin 31.56. The High Jump Ryan Cannons came 3rd A and Albert Baker taking 2nd B string.


The under 13 Girls came runners up in their match, in the shot Chloe Collins threw a 6.38m throw  to win the A string and Emily tucker winning the B string The discus saw Another double win from Sophie Wheadon 23.30 and Poppy Bladon, The Javelin Wheadon had to settle for 2nd place 23.71 with Bladon 3rd. In the middle distance it was dominated by the Yellow Vests of TK, New comer Molly Jones secured a win in the 1200m 4.14.6 with Georgina Thomson winning the B string. Rebecca Thomson came 3rd in the 800m and Pippa Thomas taking 2nd place, the sprints are finally paying of for the club now, in the 100m Isobel Kerslake and sister Eleanor teamed up to both take 2nd places 14.4 and 15.2, and again in the 200m Isobel 3rd A string 30.3 and Eleanor 2nd B 31.4

The under 15 girls came 3rd  place, Lucy Wells taking the only track win in the  1500m 5.11.2, the shorter 800m race Anna Pettit took 2nd place with Bethan Phillip 3rd B string, Anna Montagne took 3rd in the 100, 200 and 300m A string Races, in the 100m B string Lucy West came 3rd and the 200m B string Helena Armstrong also came 3rd.

wsx3-3Again on the field big points came As Maddi Barnes won both the B strings in  the Shot  and Discus 8.57 and 20.78, in the A strings Mia Eldridge made sure she Doubled up to win the A string in Shot 10.68 and Discus 24.57. The Javelin Millie Quaintance came 3rd 29.37 and Anna Pettit 2nd B string,  in the high Jump Pettit came 3rd 1.40 and Quaintance  3rd 1.30. The under 17 Women came runners up for the third match in a row, a Double win came in the discus with Dominika Humphrey and Charlotte Booker, both Girls came 2nd each in the Javelin, while in the Shot they both came 3rd in their strings, The high Jump Chloe Spencer was 2nd 1.45 and Olivia Buchanan winning the B string, in the Long Jump Spencer took 2nd place and Holly Donohoe took a B string win, on the track the 800m Donohoe came 2nd place with 2.29.4 and Rosa Lawrence won the B string 2.45.2, Both girls ran in the 300m coming 2nd place, Bucanan took two 3rd places  in the 100 and 200m with Spencer coming home in 2nd place in the 200m B string. The relay quartet of buchanan, Spencer, Donohoe and Lawrence came home in 1st place

The under 17 men came runner up as well, a Double win came in the Shot with James Hills 10.58 and Dominic De Monte 7.75, Hills excelled in the Discus winning with a throw of 36.37, he also took 3rd place in the Javelin 27.51, in the high Jump Josh Livingstone came 3rd 1.65 and a B string win from Ben Armstrong 1.55, Armstrong took a 3rd in the long jump 5.24 with Livingstone 2nd B String, on the track good points were earned from Rupert Uttley, Armstrong, Livingstone, Bradley Thomas, De Monte. The Relay team of Armstrong, Hills, Thomas and De Monte came 2nd 53.40
