Team Kennet Athletes blitzed the local Newbury Bayer 10k and fun runs in the town on Sunday in superb running temperatures that brought out the crowds to line the streets and cheer all the runners home.
In the youngsters’ races the girls thrived, cleaning up all the awards possible, in the under 16 race Lucy Wells took full advantage to win by 16 seconds from team mates Georgina Thomson and Rebecca Thomson, with only 5 seconds seperating the twins, Lily D Arcy Mastures came home in 8th place.
In the younger under 11 race Aimee Dickson was the clear winner by 12 seconds from Annabel Gibson and Kirsten Fraser, other girls who were placed were Harriet Gibson 11th, Emma Davies 13th and Caitlyn Davies 27th.
The boys also were in the mix, in the older age group Bradley Thomas came away with a well deserved 2nd place in the u16s while in the u11s Kian D Arcy Mastures claimed his first ever award coming 3rd and Joe Hamshaw was 9th.
The Main 10km race saw 750 finishers, Callum O’Neill made sure he didn’t go wrong as in last years race to finish 3rd overall in 34.56, several other club mates ran Bart Kuijiten 23rd 40.28, Dean Makar 43.09, Tony Duck 47.09, Chris Thomson 47.16, Roger Davis 49.24, Colin Price 54.40.
several of the clubs younger athletes parents also ran and enjoyed the race.
