Team Kennet Junior Athletes took part in the first match of the season in the Oxford League at Horspath on Saturday. Last year’s league winners, the club started off well with a good second place overall behind hosts Oxford City

On the day 3 club records were broken, Harry Booker winning and increasing the Discus record in the under 13 boys to 28.44 ranking him 2nd in the UK rankings. Stuart Bladon smashed his best height in the High Jump and breaking the club record taking it to 1.75 in the under 15 boys and UK ranked 6th. Kira Angell also joined the record breakers leaping 1.50 in the under 15 girls high jump.
The under 13 boys stay unbeaten this year, Oliver Gregory supported Booker well in the B string Discus coming 2nd with 19.31m, Both Booker and Gregory made sure they had a double win in the Shot with 9.89 and 8.30. The Javelin another great point scorer for the club saw Booker 2nd with 26.81 and Kian Hockaday winning the B string 22.89. Gabriel Warley cleared 1.38 in the High Jump for seond place and Matt Jones won the B string 1.20, while in the sprints Oliver Gregory showed his strength and speed by winning the B string 200m 29.6
In the under 15 boys James Mclaughlin won his 1500m race in style clocking 4.29.2 for a massive best time, and Joshua Sells taking 2nd in the B string. The 800m Stuart Bladon secured another win with a 2.22.3 and in the B string Ryan Cannons came 2nd in 2.24.2, the sprints saw Jack Cannons secure two second places in the B strings 100/200 while in the A strings Daniel Hockaday came 3rd in the 100m 12.6 and 2nd in the 200m 2nd 25.8. In the field Ryan Cannons won the B string High Jump 1.45 and in the Shot Bladon came 2nd overall 8.60
In the under 17 age group in the mens James Hills picked up 2nd places in his throws Shot 9.09, Discus 32.15 and 28.31 in the Javelin. While on the track Alex Colston came 3rd in the 1500m 4.46.7 and 4th in the 400m 64.7.
The under 13 girls came close to winning their match in the 100m Isobel Kerslake came 3rd with 14.5 and in the B string Chloe Collins was piped on the line for second place 14.8, the longer 200m Kerslake had to settle for 5th with 30.43 and Collins taking 3rd B string 31.59. The 800m Annelise Gale came 3rd with Lilly D Arcy Masters taking 2nd place in the B string, the longer 1500m both girls came 3rd place Lucy Draper 5.47.8 and Brooke Asser 6.00
The Field events fared better for the club a double win came in the Discus Sophie Wheadon winning the A string 19.79 and Poppy Bladon 16.26. Wheadon came 2nd in the High Jump 1.30 and Bladon taking 3rd B string 1.10. In the Shot both Girls came 3rd in their strings Collins 6.01 and Bladon 5.00. Wheadon made it another win in the Javelin throwing 22.78
The under 15 girls Kira made sure she got another win in the 75m hurdles 12.93. Anna Pettit came 2nd in the 800m 2.30.0 while Izzy Hole won the B string 2.39.9 the longer 1500m Lucy Wells came 4th 5.21.9 and Pheobe Hoaen 2nd B string 5.49.9, it was the field that brought in the good points, Hoean taking 2nd place in the Javelin 26.78, a Welcome return from Mia Eldridge in the discus coming 2nd 26.6, Eldridge taking 2nd place in the Shot 9.45, Lucy Wells taking 3rd place in the B string High Jump 1.25. Back on the track in the 100m Anna Montagne came 3rd 13.8 and taking 2nd in the 300m 48.7, Ellie Armstrong taking 4th in the B 100m 15.0 and Shot 5.64.
Best of the under 17 women were Rosa Lawrence winning the 1500m 5.35 and 3rd in the 800m 2.49 and in the field Charlotte Booker taking 2nd in the Discus 20.55 and two third places in the Javelin and Shot.
In the younger age groups who compete as quadkids, Oscar Pasmore was the best placed of the TK under 9s in 4th place with 118 points and was also 2nd overall in the Vortex Javelin with 17.45m narrowly beating Joseph Hoaen with 17.27 while Lucas Mercer was 3rd in both the 75m race in 13.23 and the 600m race in 2:24. For the under 9 girls, Zoe Allan came 2nd overall with 124 points and was also 2nd in the 75m in 12.67s with Octavia Thomas 2nd in the Long jump with 2.52m. The star Under 11 boy was Archie Thomas who was 2nd overall with 226 points and won the vortex throw with 29.88 and was top 4 in the other 3 events while Aimee Dickson was the star girl in 3rd overall with 191 points, winning the 600m in 2:02.5 and finishing in top 5 in the other 3 events. There were also strong performances from Connor Joyce (199 points) and Thomas Woodrow (141) for the boys and from Catherine Jones (144) just edging Ava Elverson (143) for the girls.
The club had several non scorers best of the bunch were u13 Eleanor Kerslake in the 100m 14.9. lucca miller u13 200m 31.4, Gabriel Warley 31.1
