Team Kennet almost pulled of a good result in Saturdays Southern Athletics League Division 3SW at Swindon, with a very depleted team allowing a lot of the young under 17s to take part. The final match score saw WESH – the favourites to win the league win the match with a massive score with the other 3 clubs battling it out for the places.

In the men’s section there were some outstanding performances, Alex Hanson smashing the clubs u20 5000m record in a fast time of 15.44.8 for a convincing win and team mate Callum O’Neill taking the B string win in 16.05.5, another win came from the Javelin as Luke Angell threw 54.92 to win by over 10m.
Alex Hanson came close again on another win in the 800m to clock 1.59.6 for second place, a tough high jump competition saw both Team Kennet athletes finish 3rd place Joe Osler clearing 1.70 and Josh Livingstone 1.50. Other club male athletes taking part on the day were Peter Uttley, Rupert Uttley, Nick Bull, Graham Chambers, Bradley Thomas, Alex Colston and John Donohoe
The Women’s section picked up more points, The 2000m Steeplechase saw Rachel Bladon come 2nd in 8.24.8 with Holly Donohoe winning the B string 8.48.0. The 400m saw a great race, Donohoe running her first 400m race came home in 3rd place clocking 62.7 with a lot more to come from this event and Carys Cox winning the B string 63.9. In the Womens 3000m Rosa Lawrence ran a carefull race keeping behind the leading two till the last lap and held on to take 2nd place 12.10.7. Lawrence matched this in the B string 1500m and the High Jump saw two second places from Chloe Spencer 1.40 and Olivia Buchanan 1.35. For the other events the club saw a lot of 3rd places, these were from Cheryl Angell, Deborah Montgomery and Charlotte Booker in the throws and Susie Drake in middle Distance.
