Team Kennet’s Athletes just missed out on winning the Second Round League match of the Wessex Junior Track & Field League held at Swindon on Sunday in a very close match.

Millie Quaintance was one of the best performances of the day as she threw to UK Number 1 in the javelin with a huge throw of 30.82 in the u13 girls, team mate Kora-May Stevens made it a double winning the B string 19.92, Stevens made it anther B string win in the Discus with 17.15 withMaddie Barnes taking 2nd place in the A with 21.71.
Anna Pettit had her usual day, winning the 1200m from the gun in 3.58.8 then later winning the high jump with 1.40m, just after the high she was in the long jump coming 3rd 3.92 with Quaintance winning the B string 3.70
The Relay team of Pettit, Quaintance, Anouke Mauree and Lucy West came 3rd which was best of the rest of the track events for the girls as they came 3rd team on the day
The under 15 girls went one team place better, Holly Donohoe winning both her 300m 45.1 and 800m 2.29.5 races. Emily Gould won the B string 300m 47.9 and Izzy Hole took the B string 800m 2.35.1 for Double wins, anther Double win came in the Discus with Kiah-Jay Stevens throwing 25.22 and mia Eldridge 24.10, eldridge earlier won the Shot with a below par 8.99 and Charlotte Booker coming 2nd in the B string 6.79, the Javelin Kira Angell came 3rd 24.53 and a B string win from Stevens 19.23, another 3rd came from Angell in the High jump 1.40 which she matched same placing in the Sprint Hurdles 13.3
Caoimhe Ruddock was 2nd in both the B string sprints 13.9/29.6, the relay quartet of Eldridge/Ruddock/Angell/Gould came 3rd in 55.8
The under 17 women came close to winning their age group, having to settle for second in the end, a great double came in the 300m with Carys Cox 43.1 and Susie Drake 47.00, Drake made it anther win in the B string high jump 1.35 and Cox taking 2nd A string 1.40. Jordan Donovan and Zoe forte teamed up all day in their events, in the long jump both came 2nd place Donovan 4.94, in the sprints Forte came 2nd in the B string 100m which was matched in the B string 200m by Donovan. The four girls teamed up in the relay to come 2nd with 53.80
the under 13 boys get rarely beaten, but to a good slough team this time they did, Ben East had anther good day winning the High jump with 1.40 and Thomas Joyce coming 2nd in the B string 1.20, in a strong long jump competition Cameron Langley lept 3.93 for 4th place and a 3.90 leap from B string Tom Hills took the B string win.
The Throws yet again secured high points for the club, almost a maximum number of points, in the Shot Harry Booker won this in 6.97 with Ben East 6.56 winning the other string. A double win again in the Discus Cameron Smith 18.03 and Harry Booker 16.97, East had to settle for 2nd place in the Javelin 27.49 and a B win from Jack Cannons 25.48, the middle distance boys faired well, in the 800m Toby Thomas came 3rd 2.37.3 and a great sprint finish from Oliver Brawshaw came through to win the B in 2.37.0, the longer 1500m Cameron Dunbar came 4th 5.34.1 and Maxim Brown 3rd B 5.34.4
in the sprints again it was lo points Langley was the best place in the B string 100m with 3rd.

The under 15 boys could only manage 3rd place with a much depleted team, Daniel Hockaday won the 80m hurdles in 14.8 , a superb Double win came in the high jump with Stuart Bladon 1.55 and Josh Livingstone 1.55, in the throws Bladon took the B string shot 6.67 and Zachariah Montgomery 3rd A string 8.54, Montgomery matched this in the Discus 21.68, best of the sprints came in the 300m with Alex Colston taking 3rd 45.9 and Ryan Cannons 2nd in the B 45.8

The under 17 men had one of the best turn outs for ages from the club, they were 2nd on the day behind a very strong slough squad, in the 100m Dylon Suppo came 4th 12.0, and Max Carnell 2nd B string 12.7, the 200m Suppo came 4th again 24.7 with Dominic Demonte 4th in the B string 26.7
the 400m Demonte could only manage 5th place 60.3 and a great run from B string Evan Hartley 58.7 came 2nd place, Hartley came 3rd in the 100m sprint hurdles 16.4 and the relay team of Carnell/Demonte/Suppo and Hartley came 3rd 48.8
in the field events Suupo came 3rd in the long jump 5.36 and Max Gibbs taking 2nd in the B string. in the High Gibbs came 3rd with 1.70 but it was the throwers that claimed best of the points, Double win in the Javelin from Rafael Ribiero 35.76 and Oliver Hewitt, the Discus Hewitt 35.95 and Ribiero 22.63 for anther Double win and finally Shot Hewitt 2nd place 10.46 and Ribiero 9.43 for a B string win.
the club now lie in 2nd place out of 24 in the league with two tough matches to come
