SEAA Indoor Championships

Six Team Kennet athletes were in action of the SEAA indoor track and field championships at Lee Valley.

Susie Drake claimed her first title in her athletics career by winning the under 17 women’s 1500m as a bottom end athlete. Meanwhile in the same race the under 15 girls battled it out and Holly Donohoe secured her first ever medal in a major event by coming second both girls smashing their personnel best times: Susie with 5.18.40 and Holly with 5.09.73.

In the under 17 Women’s 800m Carys Cox progressed through to the final coming 3rd in the fastest of the 3 heats in a club record time of 2.23.69. Some 90 minutes later she had to run again where she stuck to her ground to be just edged into 4th place.

Darcey Fleming came within a whisker of collecting a medal in the under 15 girls 60m hurdles, after winning both round 1 and the Semi final in similar times of 9.50/9.52 she came 4th in the final with 9.35 a new club record in the process.

Joe Osler was the clubs only male athlete to take part this weekend, after clearing 1.65m in the high jump for 9th place in the u17 mens age group he came 4th in his heat of the 200m in 26.3

Mia Eldridge competed in the under 15 girls. In her favoured event, the shot, she threw 9.07 for 7th place and in her heat of the 200m came 4th in 31.04
