Team Kennet saw 3 of its athletes compete in the UK u15/17 Championships at Bedford over the weekend. Oliver Hewitt in the under 15 boys age group became UK Champion in the Hammer keeping his cool, going in as English Schools Champion, he threw a massive throw in the Third Round of 53.39, which put him in the lead, no one managed to beat this in the latter stages. He is the Second athlete in the club to become a UK Champion.
In the same age group Rafael Ribeiro made it into the top 8 in the Javelin, he threw 42.24 in the third round to gain extra throws but stayed in 8th place with no improvement but gained a lot of experience.
In the under 17s Women’s Millie Calkin tackled her favourite event the 200m. She qualified as fastest loser in the heats clocking 25.85, she was slightly slower in the Semi Finals clocking 25.95 to finish 6th.
