Team Kennet secured a convincing win in match 3 of the Southern Athletics League on Saturday at Bracknell in the summer heat. On the Day a large squad recorded 22 wins and 6 Club records were broken.

Callum O’Neil was one of the best performances of the day as he broke the clubs 11 year old 5000m record to take a brilliant win with a fast 16.23.8 with team mate Tom Munt taking 2nd in the B string. Millie Calkin continued to break club records, Firstly in the 100m securing a tight win with 12.7 then later on making it a double win in the 200m 25.8. Alisha Bradford alsoset a new club record in the Hammer with 21.62 her non favoured event. Josh Willock also made sure he was a club record breaker as he leapt to a great 12.74 in the triple jump for a win and new club record. George Hunter making it a double win in the B string with 11.96. Both were also part of the men’s 4 x 100m relay quartet with Nathan Gillis and Samuel Randall coming home in 2nd place with 45.2 another new club record, being beaten by just 0.1 second.
Many Age Group Club records went on the day – a total of 16. Rachel Bladon had a superb day setting new w45 records as she won the 1500m Steeplechase in 5.54.3 with Mary Allan winning the B string 7.00.3. Earlier in the Day Bladon won her B string 800m and was 3rd in the A string High jump. Carys Cox tackled the 400m for the first time and she wasn’t disappointed as she blasted from the gun to win with a new club u17 record of 61.6 with team mate Georgina Bradford winning the B string in 64.2. Bradford earlier secured a new best time in the 800m as came second in the A string with 2.22.1
Team Captain Nick Bull teamed up with Samuel Randall in the 400m Hurdles with Randall winning the A string 61.1 and Bull winning the B string 72.5 in a new v45 club record. Nathan Gillis continued his form in the league with a great battle in the 800m to be edged to second place with 1.55.4 a new u20 CR and Alex Hanson made sure he won the B string in 2.01.4. Both teamed up again in the 1500m Gillis matched same placing 2nd with 4.15.1, and Hanson winning the B string 4.31.5.
In the men’s Sprints Willock won the 100m in 11.0 with Matt Hunter 3rd B string 12.1, and in the 200m Willock came 2nd in 22.4 with Randall same position in the B string 22.8. Daniel Collis came 2nd in the A string 2000m Steeplechase with 7.17 with Bull also 2nd place in the B string setting another new Club v45 Record 8.18.5. Both High Jumpers struggled in the men’s high jump with Tom Murphy only clearing 1.65 for 3rd A string with Joe Osler matching the same height but winning the B string. Murphy came 3rd in the long jump later on in the day with 5.39, while in the Pole Vault a good battle could only see Simon Scholes 3.20m good enough for 3rd place.
The men’s throws fared well for a change in the Javelin without the clubs best athlete. Christian Randall stepping upto A string came 2nd with 39.02 and Matt Hunter also 2nd place with 36.19. Both Randall Brothers came 3rd in their strings of the shot, and in the Discus C. Randall 5th A and Stan Chambers 3rd B string. Finally in the men’s events the 4 x 400m team were involved in a battle to the line with Bracknell to be given joint 1st in 3.36.3
Jordan Donovan picked up B string wins firstly in the Long Jump with 4.64 then later on in the 200m with a great 26.9. Harriet Allan secured good points again for the club in the technical events, firstly in the 400m hurdles finishing 3rd place with team mate Kirsty Bennet 1st B string and then in the sprint hurdles Allan also came 3rd in A string and one place higher in the B string High jump 1.30 30 and Natasha Roue came 4th in 100m B string in 14.2.
In the longer distance 3000m Chloe Scaplehorn came in 3rd place 12.07.2 and Bennet secured another B string win 12.16.1. In the Triple Jump Carys Cox came 3rd in the A string 8.65 with G. Bradford 2nd B string 8.38 and in the throws new comer Deborah Montgomery marked her Debut with a club v45 record in the Javelin for 3rd A string 23.95 with Alisha Bradford 2nd B string 17.64, Vicky Bradford matched her Daughter in the B string Hammer in 2nd place with 9.67, Both A Bradford and Montgomery were 2nd in their strings of the Discus 28.26 and 18.33 while in the shot both were teamed up again for 3rd A string 8.21 and 2nd B string 6.86.
The Womens 4x400m relay team of G. Bradford, Cox, Allan and Donovan again just missed the clubs record coming home in 2nd place 4.28.8
