
A rainy start to the cross country season, saw a good turnout by Team Kennet athletes.
Team Kennet under 13 girls stole the clubs highlights at the Oxford Mail cross Country League at Ascott under Wychwood on a wet and stormy sunday.
Yasmin Ryder in the bottom year of her age group ran a superb race to come home in 3rd place overall to help the team to a winning start, Georgina Bradford also a younger u13 was 7th and Chloe Scaplehorn 13th.
Rachel Elliott led the senior womens team home in second place defending their team crown from last year with an excerlent 2nd place with Sue Francis 10th (3rd Vet) and Helen Preedy in 17th.
The under 15/17 mens race saw 3rd place in the team event with Micheal Randall 5th, Aston Nicholls 8th and Luke Conway 23rd.
The mens team also made a solid start to the cross country league Division 2 with 2nd place, Mark Shepherd leading the team home in 27th with Guy Watts 31st, Iain Adams 38th, Tom Milburn 59th, James Moorcroft 85th, Rob Findlay 134th, Lee Jones 147th and Colin Price 209th.
Tom Uden produced the best run of his life in the u13 boys age group to finish 2nd with Aaron Conway 17th, in the u15/17 womens race Katie Herbert was 23rd, Katie Metalli 26th and Emma Seymour 31st.
Jonty Bowden made his debut to the club coming in 4th place being sick most the way round which cost him the race, James McLaughlin 20th, Alex Davis 38th and Sam Davis 48th in the under 11 boys, with the girls Carli Nicholls 23rd, Elli Randall 27th, Chloe Jones 43rd and Elysia O,Dell 47th.
